Instructors
Jalisa Williams
Jalisa Williams began her dance training at the age of five at Thomas
G. Pullen performing arts school. There she studied ballet, jazz,
modern, and African dance. Ms. Williams also studied dance technique
at Marcellus dance studio for 10 years. There she was a part of the
company which allowed her to perform for various events in the DC
metro area. At Marcellus she was given he first opportunity to work as
a teachers assistant. She went on to Suitland High Schools Visual and
Performing Arts Program. At Suitland she was able to perfect her
technique by taking workshop classes with companies like Urban Bush
Women. Ms Williams attended Arlington Center for Dance, Dance Theater
of Harlem youth intensive, as well as the Alvin Ailey summer dance
Program. Since then she has went on to study dance in college at
Virginia Commonwealth University, and University of Maryland Baltimore
County. As an Instructor she has taught dance at the Temple Hills
Community Center, Wings of Fire Dance Theater, District Heights
Community Center, Marcellus Dance Studio and Anderson Dance Studio. Ms Williams also founded her own liturgical dance company by the name of Empowered Movement Dance Ministry.
Melajero Williams
Melajero Williams is a singer, dancer, actor and this triple threat is new to the TDC DC staff. He trained at Anne Arundel Community College under the direction of Lynda Fitzgerald, DC Showbiz Dancers under the direction of Shawn Cosby, Dance Theatre of Harlem under the direction of Aurther Micthell and Raw Element Dance Company under the direction of Tiarra Poca Parham.
He has also been featured on 106& Park, DC50/ The CW, Bobby Jones Gospel, a Dr.Pepper Promo and the Wiz.
Mr. Williams is our Hip Hop instructor at TDCDC.
